Hello everyone who visits my site. A few of my sites got hacked over the past few days resulting in starting from scratch. I’ll have photos up within the next week or so, unfortunately it’s going to take a bit to recover everything.
Please be patient!
Matt
It turns out there are quite a few broken towns along old route 66 in California and this past weekend we went to one named Ludlow. It looked as though this was one of many little stops along the once heavily travelled route that ultimately went broke. For someone who’s spent their first 23+ years living in a steady 4 season a year place, there’s something odd about being in the middle of a desert in December.

To my surprise, there are tons of trails, mountains and other hiking opportunities in the Los Angeles metro area. I was always under the impression that Los Angeles was one huge paved over parking lot but there really is some beautiful wilderness to explore. Here are some photos from some hikes Amanda and I have done as well as some street shots.

After working exclusively with digital photography for the past several years for personal as well as professional photography, I’ve decided to go back and experiment with film photography. This was all spurred on by my friend Marshall who is an amazing photographer in his own right (his work can be found here: www.marshallmcdonaldphoto.com/). He uses medium format film equipment which is essentially the same as 35mm film equipment in all aspects except for size. Medium format film can be 2 to 6 times larger than 35mm film depending on the equipment used. The benefits to this are size and clarity of prints made, as you can enlarge medium format film to sizes significantly larger than 35mm film. Even compared to the digital equipment we currently use for weddings, medium format can produce higher resolution images for larger prints. Here are some photos taken of my wife Amanda, brother Evan and myself, I hope you enjoy!

There’s a great band based in Los Angeles named ‘The Procession’ and I was fortunate enough to take some photos of them. The core of the band is Paul & John both originating from the Metro-Detroit area. They make really great pop music reminiscent of 60’s pop like the Zombies, Beach Boys and Hollies to name a few. Their music can be found HERE. We shot in Griffith Park and around Atwater Village.
